Garance and Friends
A while back, the lovely Caroline of 'Caroline, No' introduced me to the fabulous Garance Doré's blog and I've been a follower ever since. I especially love her illustrations and photography, and more recently she's been photographing her friends in their homes. Of course, all her friends are super chic fashion types who live in beautiful, art clad, light bright spaces chock full of character and style. This is Amanda Brooks' awesome New York apartment...

The Last Word
Introducing...the husband's new bar!
As I mentioned here, The Last Word Saloon opened on 1st May. It's an old school, American saloon-style cocktail bar in Stockbridge, Edinburgh with a cracking list of expertly made drinks. It doesn't look too bad either.
I was involved in the interior but only to the extent that a wife can be when the 'clients' are pretty strong minded and creative anyway...either way the result looks awesome (as does that ridiculously handsome bartender). It appears my new moto is 'there is no such thing as too many filament bulbs'...
So, who wants to babysit so I can go and sit at the bar and drink rum?

Handwriting sneak peek
I finished a handwriting commission on Saturday for a wedding this weekend. The bride, who's originally from my home town, got in touch from Australia, where she lives now, via Yeah...Ok...Bye. The world is indeed pretty petite. Here's a sneak peek at one of the table names.
Hopefully there will be some lovely images from the photographer for a blog post after the big day...
Photograph taken by me at 1am on Sunday morning.

Tactile Twigs
These fuzzy twigs have been found, then transformed, then illuminated by London based designer, Nic Parnell as part of his 'Outside In' range. The branches and timber are either found or sourced, with the help of tree surgeons, and upcycled using different techniques including electro-static flocking with nylon, as seen on these awesome lamps. Check out his new collection, Cleavage.

Lonny Favourites (June 2012 issue)
I managed to take half an hour out of my manic mummy schedule this weekend to have a virtual flick through the newly released issue of Lonny. Here's a little collection of my favourite images from this month's edition....obviously they're not all from the same home - that would be ridiculous...or would it...?

Shoulder Totty
It's been a while since I posted a handbag. There was a time when I went a bit far so I took a break...till I saw this little (large), neon coral, Marc by Marc Jacobs, woven bucket. Pretty, isn't she?

Villa Vals
Dutch architects SeARCH and CMA designed this hillside gem with the environment in mind. Carved into the hillside near Vals (home to Therme Vals Hotel and Spa - another architectural gem) in Switzerland, you enter Villa Vals via an underground passage from an unassuming barn...lucky because you could miss that beautiful curved façade if you were skiing overhead. The light-flooded concrete interior features natural stone steps, and an abundance of Dutch design including the neon colour pops from Scholten & Baijings as well as those dining chairs and all that lighting. The best bit is you can stay there!
