Three's a Crowd Pleaser /// Inky Blues

I'm predicting lots of rich inky blues, greens and purples on walls this year. As with most trends, in interiors, they are usually adapted from, or to, the catwalk so here's a little orange colour match inspiration thrown in, via Polished to Perfection. I narrowed down three of my favourite blue hues for those of you brave enough to indulge. If you're not keen on the orange pairings shown here, gold will take it up a notch. Anyone tempted?

Cos Kids

You know what's better than finding some really cool kids clothes? Finding out that they do grown up clothes too! Check out the close up of that little grey skirt, it has neon stripes! Surprisingly not ridiculous prices too...Bonus.

Three's A Crowd Pleaser /// Leather

Following on from my first post of 2013, here's another trend prediction for this year: Leather. It's a fairly timeless texture but little hints of it, faux and real, will be rife this year. This chiffon blouse with faux black leather collar and pocket details is so pretty but I'd love to get my hands on that mirror (check out this DIY clock version). That day bed's tubular steel base adds an industrial element covering another trend for this year...bonus! I've mostly seen black PVC and leather popping up everywhere but I'm a sucker for this more natural tan hue.

Three's A Crowd Pleaser /// Cable Knit

When the temperature dips it's only natural to start layering up your soft furnishings as well as your wardrobe. A mix of textures always works well to cozy up a space and I've seen loads of cable knit items on the market; from cushions and blankets to rugs and even lighting. It's everywhere!
I'd layer it up with a reindeer skin and maybe even a little mohair for ultimate winter warmth.

Three's a Crowd Pleaser /// Monochrome

My obsession with all things black and white continues...(see my wishlist from last year).
The fact that I narrowed it down to only three things for this week's 'TACP' (Three's A Crowd Pleaser) has surprised even me.

Three's a Crowd Pleaser /// Autumn wardrobe

I rarely do fashion/outfit posts but with the change of weather it's only natural to have the urge to update one's wardrobe. It's been beautiful in Edinburgh this autumn; crisp and fresh, with glorious, albeit low level, sunshine and blue skies. Colour blocking, animal print and British patriotism (it's been a big year) in one look. Too much? No way...

Weekend Treasure Hunt

On Saturday afternoon I had a few hours off. I love my family but sometimes a little 'me time' is a necessity. I took the opportunity to head over to a monthly flea market that I'd been trying to get to for a long time. The Drill Hall on Dalmeny Street, in Leith, is an awesome space with a ridiculous amount of natural light. It's home to Out of The Blue, an arts and education trust committed to community projects. There are offices and studios rented to creative businesses and a large space, perfect for markets, as well as shows, workshops and classes. There's a café too...for sustenance. On the last Saturday of every month the hall hosts the Out Of The Blue Flea Market from 10am till 3pm, and it's definitely worth a visit.
I picked up this vintage silk blouse for £1.50 and, the artist's mannequin, large wood bowl and awesome white and gold vase all came from the same seller, and were £2 a piece! So, I had a very fruitful and enjoyable afternoon which cost a total of £11.40, including £1.40 for the bus and £2.50 for the most tremendous flat white coffee from Artisan Roast on my wander home.
Did you find any treasure this weekend?

Three's a Crowd Pleaser /// Foxy!

My computer needed some down time so it went to visit the computer spa at my brother's flat in Glasgow and has returned as new! In the meantime I got a little bit fanatic about foxes and had to share. I'm thinking you don't need little ones as an excuse to inject some woodland animal fun into your life.

I'm also thinking 'Three's a Crowd Pleaser' could be a regular post...

Rattattaaaaan!

Ok, so I know that our summer so far hasn't got anyone in the mood for garden furniture but I've seen some pretty funky rattan about recently...none so funky as the Marni collection, however. Trademark colour blocking in this summer's super hot hues mixed up with mid-century shapes...Marni have nailed it! It's a rattan revival! Seriously though, these chairs are part of a project; they're made by Colombian prisoners as part of a rehabilitation programme. Find out more here.

Beady Beauties

Check out this jewellery by Alyson Fox, an Austin, Texas-based maker, sculptor, designer, photographer, artist... it seems there's very little she can't do. My favourite is the cobalt blue geometry pendant...I never get bored of that colour! Oh, and the awesome pattern is an excerpt from a print of hers which is sold out everywhere...obviously.

Shoulder Totty

It's been a while since I posted a handbag. There was a time when I went a bit far so I took a break...till I saw this little (large), neon coral, Marc by Marc Jacobs, woven bucket. Pretty, isn't she?

Mario Testino's L.A. home

I wish I travelled enough to fill my home with collected treasures from around the world...
That girl must get a bit annoying though, just hanging around striking a pose all day...I wonder what far off land he picked her up from...?

Thinking of Sunshine...

In a few weeks we're taking a trip. A trip to the other side of the world. A trip to a place where, right now, it's summer. We are, to say the least, excited. So here's a little summer balminess in the form of a spring/summer 2012 sneak peek from b.young. It's going to be a bright summer...oranges and pinks all over the place! Which is just as well because apparently 'Tangerine Tango' is Pantone's colour of the year!
We are not too excited, however, about travelling for 24 hours with an 8 month old baby who loves his routine and will be between nutritional stages...any tips will be gratefully received!
