Handwriting sneak peek

I finished a handwriting commission on Saturday for a wedding this weekend. The bride, who's originally from my home town, got in touch from Australia, where she lives now, via Yeah...Ok...Bye. The world is indeed pretty petite. Here's a sneak peek at one of the table names.

Handwritten Poem

...living the cheesy dream...

Our dear friend, Joe, is a bigshot barrister in London through the week, but at the weekend, he is now, living his dream...

Joe and his brother have recently started sourcing fantastic, locally produced, cheeses and meats to pursue their dream of being 'purveyors of fine food & drink'.

Two weeks ago, Cannon & Cannon took the plunge and hosted their first market stall at Linton Farmers' Market, and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves! As you can see, I was very happy to be asked to provide them with some pricing labels.Tomorrow they will be at Impington Farmers' market near Cambridge till 12.30 but if that's too short notice, go along to the Great Shelford Memorial Hall on the 23rd October to fulfill all your cheesy fantasies...

Handwritten Table Plan

I was so delighted to be asked to write the table plan and place cards for our friends' wedding at the beginning of the August! It was a brilliant weekend in the Scottish Borders...a smorgesboard of Danish, Sri Lankan and Scottish influences...and plenty of cocktails of course!

They moved to Copenhagen from Scotland a few years ago and opened the award winning bar Ruby ...check it out

I'll be there for you

This was one of my first handwriting commissions and is a favourite poem of mine. It's called 'I'll be there for you' by Louise Cuddon. Perfect for a reading at a wedding...which it was. It was a gift from the reader to the happy couple.

Three Times a Charm

A couple of weeks ago, an old school friend contacted me through facebook and requested 3 handwritten copies of this lovely poem to give as gifts. What Words Alone Can't Say, by Nathan Wende was read at her surprise wedding!! They fooled friends and family by inviting them to their 'engagement party'. I love that idea!!
I wrote each out on light-weight, white, line textured paper (my favourite kind) and although they look pretty similar there are slight differences in all three, which i love.

They were framed in contemporary white frames with an off white border. What do you think?

Handwritten by... me

Where to start?
Well, i suppose, as my intention is for this blog to be about my work, as well as my findings, it's probably best to start by showing you some of my handwriting.

When the time came to think about our wedding invitations i wanted them to be clean, informal (ish) and most of all, very personal to us...so i toyed with the idea of writing them myself. I am also in LOVE with all things letter pressed so after a little help from a graphic designer friend my writing was sent off to the printer to be pressed on simple, postcard size, off white card.
I think the style of our invite says a lot about us & the style of our day. Relaxed, personal, fun and a little bit different. 
Since then I have had several requests from restaurant menus to tattoos and poems from husband to wife, father to newborn baby and more...I'm pretty sure I'll be posting more about our wedding very soon but for now here's a taster of my handwriting work.So, if you need anything handwritten drop me an email!
